I even got an extra month added to my new subscription for compensation. Having said that, the tech support staff I contacted on their chat was very good and spent a lot of time with me to fix the problem. Norton isn't making it easy to keep existing subscribers. Some users may decide it isn't worth the hassle and use other products. You have to let your subscription expire and then start a new subscription. It seems that Norton is shooting itself in the foot - if you renew your subscription you won't get any new features. I'm sorry I didn't mention that my subscription had auto-renewed - I honestly assumed that if the subscription was renewed I would be receiving the latest features on renewal. I made a mistake in not unchecking the auto-renew option in my account - I will make sure I don't have it checked in the future! I suggested this to the tech support staff I chatted to. SoulAsylum I agree that Norton should notify users that they will not receive any new features if they renew - they will have to cancel their subscription and buy a new subscription to get new features. I hope this information is useful to other users. I've wasted my time, the people on this forums time and the Norton techs time because Norton has not made it clear how their subscriptions work.
#NORTON 360 PREMIUM 1 UPDATE#
I suggested to the Norton tech I was chatting with that Norton needs to update existing subscribers with any new features automatically or notify them that they need to cancel their existing subscription and buy a new one. It seems that the the helpful people on this forum are not aware of this either. Norton needs to either update existing subscriptions with new features automatically or notify existing subscribers that they will need to cancel their existing subscription and buy a new one to get any new features. The existing situation is very confusing and frustrating. The Norton tech was very good and patient. The Norton tech helped me cancel my existing subscription, get a refund and buy a new subscription which included the VPN. It does not automatically include new features when I renew an existing subscription. When my subscription was auto-renewed VPN WAS available, but my subscription was still using the old Norton without VPN. The tech support told me that when I bought my original subscription VPN was not included. This will ensure the patches are installed separately and completely.
